9th order from the Nigerian Navy to OCEA

1st february 2023

In order to manage the growing challenges in the Gulf of Guinea, both near shore and in the EEZ, the Nigerian Navy expands its means and has placed a ninth order with OCEA for the design and manufacture of a fleet of patrol boats.

The order includes three 32-metre OCEA FPB 98 MKI fast patrol boats, six 9.8-metre OCEA RIVER 28 OB river patrol boats and five 9.5-metre RHIBs, in addition to the 19 OCEA vessels already in the Nigerian Navy’s fleet.

The OCEA FPB 98 MKI is already well known to the Nigerian Navy, which has been operating this vessel for more than 10 years.

The OCEA RIVER 28 OB and the RHIBs enhance the Navy’s response capability for coastal and delta operations.

The RHIBs in particular will be used for law enforcement and fast interventions (45 knots).
